Who we are

Our names are Catharina Málek and Václav Málek, but you can call us Cathi and Vašek, we are pleased to meet you.

Cathi literally grew up dancing. Her dancing career began at the age of 4 and, with little detours, it continues to this day. Although she drifted into other areas on one occasion or another, fate and her love for dancing always brought her back.

Vašek was a late starter. At the age of 16 he took his first dance steps at a dance school and only got a taste of competitive dancing three years later. However, what he lacked in experience, he made up for with his strong will and tireless commitment. When he came to Austria two years later, he had already had a pretty decent tournament career.

Our dance career together began in 2011 when Vašek, a native of the Czech Republic, started studying in Vienna. Little did we know back then that we would make it to the top within the next 10 years and what crazy experiences lay ahead of us.

We experienced a breakthrough when we decided not to do things by halves and to officially dedicate our whole life to dancing. From that point on, both our national and international results went through the roof.

Ultimately, we managed to achieve goals that we wouldn't have even dared to say out loud at the beginning. We became Austrian national champions in standard and were able to represent Austria at World and European Championships. We made it into the top 100 couples in the world rankings and reached the semifinals at the World Cup in China.

Looking for new challenges, we decided to try our luck in the show dance discipline. As always, we left nothing to chance and put all our effort into developing a sophisticated performance. With our show “Bohemian Rhapsody” we ultimately became Austrian champions, which opened the door for us to the World Championships. Here, as hoped, we reached the final and achieved an amazing fourth place.

Now we are putting our energy into other projects. Be it teaching, Dancing Stars, you name it, we strive to approach everything with the same dedication as our own active career. You can find out what we have going on in our blog.
